I have spent a lot of my life focusing on building a bigger future through bucket list adventures- in fact it’s the central framework for my group coaching program. Building out an adventure list can help families to dream and plan for a positive future beyond the divorce. Here are some ideas:
- Create a Family Bucket List: Sit down with your children and create a list of adventures and activities you want to experience together. This gives everyone something to look forward to and work towards.
- Set Goals Together: Whether it’s learning a new skill or visiting a new place, setting goals as a family can provide a sense of direction and purpose.
- Serve Others: It’s so simple, yet often is forgotten. Volunteering together can be a powerful way to bond and instill a sense of gratitude and empathy in your children. Helping others can also provide a new perspective on your own challenges.
Divorce is undeniably tough, but with open communication, empathy, and shared outdoor experiences, you can help your children navigate this transition with resilience and hope. By focusing on building a brighter future together, you can empower your children to thrive despite the challenges. Remember, your support and love are the most critical tools in helping them through this journey.
